I began ARTofFLIGHTmacrame back in the summer of 2019. I began on Etsy selling my wall hangings and accessories. Some of my macrame patterns became bestsellers and I got some really positive reviews which boosted my confidence in my tiny business! Check them out here https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/ARTofFLIGHTmacrame.
It all originally began with my obsession for macrame eagles. They are so beautiful and I love making them. I feel like I havn't had much time to make any recently but they are on my to do list! I usually have them as made to order pieces. This was my first design.
Recently, I have taken the decision to really go with this business dream of mine and I've been trying my hardest to grow it. I knew from selling patterns that macrame is something people like to 'do' rather than just buy so, in order to grow my sales I decided to supply cord. I get beautiful cord from a UK supplier and its really hard not to use it all when i'm supposed to be selling it, lol! I walk into my craft area and just swoon at all the rolls of pretty string!
I also set up this website and have had a good response so far! I love the fact I have an area to express more of myself, my brand and my values which is something you can't really do in a generic Etsy shop.
I suppose, apart from home educating my 6 year old twins, I've had a fair bit of time to work on ARTofFlight. Lock down is hard and a bit claustrophobic. I was going to get fit and go running every day but ....... The guy who owns the drop shop for my Hermes packages has a fit every Monday and Thursday when I bring in 20, 30, 40 boxes! He has to find somewhere to put them but I'm trying to limit how many times I go out of the house! I think a lot of people are finding comfort and keeping themselves busy with crafting though. I love the idea that people are at home making macrame using my string! It's one of the reasons I set up ARTofFlight in the first place. Crafting is therapeutic and I love being able to share that with people after going through tough times in my own life recently.
Anyway, I wanted to say thank you for all the support I've had over the past 9 months! It's been an amazing journey so far and I'm totally excited for the future.
I hope you all stay safe in these crazy times.
